The city of Munich runs its Christkindlmarkt in the old town. For the first time it starts on the Friday before Totensonntag, so the 2026 season begins earlier than in previous years. The city says more than 130 stalls sell goods and food.
Printed opening hours are 10:00 to 21:00 Monday to Saturday, 10:00 to 20:00 on Sundays and 10:00 to 14:00 on Christmas Eve. Totensonntag, 22 November 2026, is a closing day when all stalls stay shut. A Krampuslauf takes place on Sunday 13 December from 15:00 to 17:00.
